November 2005

Dear visitor. As you might have noticed, BigMother is underegoing redesign and you are likely to experience some disturbances in the coming period as I play around with the site. Sorry for any inconvenience you might experience during the redesign period.

I need a vintage white T-shirt with the old rainbow Apple logo on the chest (size M). Don’t ask why, I just do! And while you’re at it, please bring me the new no-nonsense, rugged and crappy-camera-less mobile from our tech mother in Cupertino. Oh, there’s still no Apple phone underway? Then I’ll just wait another three year replacing my ancient Ericsson T39m.

Well, this is normally not a forum for gastronomy let alone bragging, but I have to share a joy with you before my smile cuts my face in two. One of my parents friends came by the other day with a late wedding present for Louise and I. He did – discretely (he is a man of manners) – mention that he was unhappy to leave the present in his car, so I did have some idea of the value of it. It turned out to be six bottles of some of his favourite wines. Among them, a bottle of chateau Cheval Blanc 1985 (St. Émilion 1′er Grand Cru Classé) which I soon learned was something special. A curios search at google just revealed the noble white horse is traded for around 400€! So I don’t even bother to mention the Chateau Pavie 1985, Chateau Canon 1985 or other a-little-less-than-100€ inferiorities among the bottles ;-) The before mentioned friend also urged me that most of the wines were old and meant to be enjoyed before Christmas (with a wink). Do I look forward to just dive into these magnificent wines soon – it’s going to be a merry Christmas this year I’m quite certain.

I’ve wanted to change design and features on this page for some time now, but still need some WordPress studying to carry it out. Stay tuned for much more information and dynamics framing the actual blog.

A friend recently send me a link for Pledgebank, a new service uniting people with certain goals but insufficient means to bring it about on their own. Make a pledge and wait for like-minded to join you in your specific quest. Social software and co-creation at its finest. Link: http://www.pledgebank.com/

On what has become almost a tradition of curiously detouring when going home from meetings in town, I came by the relatively new concept-lifestyle-boutique Canvas at Fælledvej in Copenhagen today. Attracted by an intriguing, highly pixelated picture (of what turned out to be hard core porn) by the talented Danish artist Jacob Fuglsang Mikkelsen I went inside to find lots of nice clothes, art and design books, music, more splendid paintings by Fuglsang and some very friendly and enthusiastic owners. I ended up in the back of the shop talking to the owners about trends, cool-hunting, bying art, the incoming new lines of clothes, upcoming events and a lot more. They’re apparently going to feature selected boose for sale, DJ in residence, regular exhibitions, happenings and promotion parties. A very nice stop indeed. I’m looking forward to follow the development of Canvas. Check out Jacob Fuglsang Mikkelsen: http://www.jayfugmik.com/
